I completely disagree with this quote, "But that's always the way; it don't make no difference whether you do right or wrong, a person's conscience ain't got no sense, and just goes for him anyway." In other words this quote means that whatever choice or decision you choose upon your moral conscience will support that decision in which you make. This statement is absurd. There are many instances in life in which people make bad decisions and are haunted by their conscious for the rest of their lives. Therefore your conscience isn’t always rooting for the decision you made which makes this quote very inaccurate.
Over the course of Huck Finn, Huck is confronted with many moral decisions and his conscience helps to make these decisions. One instance of a decision is that is affected by Huck conscience is Huck’s decision to help Jim, a slave, to escape to freedom. He made the right choice in doing so even though the journey is going to be hard and tiresome. Another instance of Huck’s conscience helping him make a decision is when Huck blames the slave’s on taking the king and duke’s money. Generally blaming others for your actions is considered wrong, but in this situation I find this an okay decision because the slaves didn’t get in trouble or hurt. Also Huck had full intention to pay them back. Another decision that Huck’s conscience influences is Huck ratting out the duke and king as scam artists. He made the right decision as the scam artists have been hurting others for along time so they got what came to them.
An instance of moral dilemma that I have dealt with had to do with money I found. I went out to dinner one night and found sixty dollars on the ground of the parking lot. I turned the money into the restaurant and surely twenty minutes later somebody came and claimed their money. I wanted to keep that money so bad, but my conscience wouldn’t allow for that and ultimately I made the correct decision.
